Notes on Third Thursday and why hosting is a serious discipline.

Hosting gets treated as a soft skill, which is how you end up at a lot of events nobody remembers. It is closer to operations: a date, a room, a list, and the willingness to keep doing it in the months when only six people come.
Consistency beats scale
Third Thursday started small and stayed on the same night on purpose. The date is the product. People can plan around it, bring someone, skip a month and come back without it being awkward. Scale would have been easier to brag about and much easier to lose.
